The Long Weekend was a blast!

The Long Weekend was held June 17-19 on the University of Alabama campus. Visit our Facebook page to see a photo gallery from The Long Weekend.

The Long Weekend is designed to teach creative and efficient ways to communicate through scholastic newspapers, newsmagazines, yearbooks, literary magazines, broadcast programs and electronic media. It allows students to enjoy a taste of college life and invigorate their interest in scholastic media.

“We aim for students to leave this camp excited about journalism in all of its forms” said ASPA Director Meredith Cummings.

The Long Weekend will feature day and evening classes to help participants gain the tools to produce prize-winning results the next school year. When festivities and classes wrap up with an awards presentation, students will have a great start on the upcoming year, and will leave with a solid plan for their school newspaper, yearbook, broadcast program, Web site or literary magazine. If they come without a staff, they will leave with skills they need to do great journalism in any medium. Email ASPA at aspa@ua.edu with questions.
